Juan Martín Vila and Maria Antònia Femenias have been awarded the XXXIV edition of the Mitja Marató de Cala Rajada, held this afternoon, with departure and arrival in the Cala Rajada Yacht Club area. The male winner set a time of 1h21’49” to cover the 21 kilometers of the race, held under intense sunshine. Martín Vila has dominated the race with authority, leading the second-place finisher, Tomás Vizueta, also from the local team Athletic Club Capdepera, by two minutes, and the third-place finisher Ludovic Le Guellec by almost six.
The women’s race was more closely contested, which was resolved in the last meters in favor of Maria Antònia Femenias, who beat Victoria Ryan to the finish line by just six seconds. Third on the podium was Aina Sureda Morey, almost three minutes behind.
This new edition has once again demonstrated the demands of this race and of a circuit that is as spectacular as it is tough for runners of this long distance. Furthermore, the intense heat has made the conditions even tougher for the participants in this Mitja Marató de Cala Rajada, the longest marathon of those held in Mallorca.
In parallel with the Mitja Marató, the popular 10-kilometre race was also held, with the victory of Alexander Noah Schill in the men’s category, and Leonor Font Balduque, who repeated her victory from last year in the women’s category.
A total of 270 registered participants gathered for this new edition of the Mitja Marató and the 10K of Cala Rajada, in a great day of athletics that concluded with the awards ceremony in the different categories, which was attended by of Agripina Rocha, councilor of Turisme, the director of Serrano Hotels, Rosalia Vidal, and the president of the Capdepera Hotel Association, Maria Antònia Moll, as main sponsors of the event.
